We are having partridge with red wine jus, pommes dauphinoise buttered carrots and green beans followed by apple crumble and custard. Washed down with Aldi Malbec
Roast chicken. The first one since my mum died - that used to be a typical sunday when I am at home. I could just "see" her coming up the path with her walking sticks at one o clock. Another 'first'. Hopefully, it`ll be easier next time.
Rack of lamb, potatoes, leeks, fresh peas, parsnip, sweetheart cabbage and gravy, with a South African Cabernet Sauvignon. I now feel sick as a parrot!
BTW - where can I buy a chicken that leaves juices in the pan? I remember when there would be brown juice that I could put into the gravy but these days, it`s just fat. You still get lots of juice with a turkey but not chicken.
Lamb shank, roast potatoes, fine green beans and broccoli
Fresh plums and sliver of cheese to follow
Accompanied by a cheerful and cheap South African Red
Lots of lovely things people had for dinner last night. The partridge was lovely we had and jus -well its not that posh -red wine boiled down redcurrant jelly added and thickened with a chicken gravy pot -I'm no nigella in the kitchen.
Sorry I didn't get back stuey to give you a kiss nite nite - it wasn't the Malbec , I got watching something on the TV ( not X factor is banned)
