Also, in some cases, the tax code of the bankrupt is changed (for the tax year in which they went bankrupt) to NT, and the employer's pay office is given this code to implement by Inland Revenue. They are not told it has been done because of bankruptcy, but might suspect this from general knowledge.
Why is she worried? Unless she is in a very sensitive (financially) job or a restricted profession (eg some accountancy bodies) there should be no problems and it could well be unfair dismissal if they sacked her.
Thanks for your replies dzug and themas. Will pass them on to sis in law.
Themas, she is worried as the promotion she is going for is management, (not sure of all the details) and she thinks if they find out she has gone bankrupt (not the first time either!) then they will not let her continue with the course, as it costing her firm quite a bit of money to get her through it.
