Windows 8.1 Newbie - How Can Ii Back Up My Laptop?

I am puzzled. When i had Win7 I backed up my laptop to an external hard drive I have but when I tried it with my new laptop (Win 8.1) nothing happens!

I connected the external hard drive but cannot find the 'program' on my laptop so i can start the download.

All i can find is 'One Drive' which is a cloud based program and I do not want that!

Please help a 'newbie' to Win 8.1

Microsoft have rather hidden the backup program in Windows 8.1 (because it is not very good).

There are some ideas here on how to backup in 8.1, including how to find "System Image Backup".
