Anyone had this injection? How was it? Do you have them every few
months or so? Nothing else has worked with my arthritis and this is the last resort I think. Thanks in advance.

Not in my wrist but I've had both hips done and both shoulders done twice each and had numerous more general ones and mine have been worth it. I didn't find them that painful though they say I have a high pain threshold! The results can be great, even if it's limited effect wise. They have definitely helped me.

I had one in my thumb joint a couple of months ago (I have RA) . It hurt like hell having it, and the effects only lasted a couple of weeks at the most so personally I would not have another if it were offered.
had them when i had a frozen shoulder and after a little while the awful pain i was in went.
Not wrist but other joints.

The efficacy is dependent on the patient. The number you have is dependent on your response to the treatment, if there is no marked improvement after three shots then the current advice is to give up the treatment.

It can be extremely painful after the jab, but varies.
I had one in my hand which worked brilliantly - no trouble at all afterwards and the pain has never returned (?ten years ago) - also had one in my shoulder which did nothing at all so I think each case has to be judged on it's merits. Some work and some don't.
Even so, would certainly give it a try if the need arises. Good luck with what ever you decide.
Not me lidlicker, but a close friend has and she says it is very painful at first, but she does get relief and it lasts quite a while too, so she would recommend it, but I guess everyone is different. Good luck.

Thank you all for your replies. I have seen my Physio today and he is going to write to my GP to suggest this injection - I am a bit scared of the pain but
I will do anything.

Please don't be scared. Only just seen this, sorry late response. After breaking my left wrist last December I continued to have terrible pain in it. X-ray in July showed break had healed but severe arthritis had set in. So pain was caused by inflammation and Cortisone injection suggested. I jumped at it. It was done end Aug. and since late September I have had no pain, brilliant!

The Doctor numbed the injection site before the injections, which are quite deep, and I didn't feel a thing - in fact I watched the computer screen images with interest throughout. There were 3 places injected. As I had driven there, I was advised to get home before the numbness wore off and sure enough that evening and for a couple of days my wrist was quite sore.

I'm awaiting a recall to check that it worked, but I'd not hesitate to have another if necessary. :0)
