Capture One (Raw Editing) Help!

I have just downloaded this as it was recommended as one of the best programs for handling raw files from my Fuji camera (which has an Xtrans sensor).
All I want to do is import and process raw files and so far, when I try to "import" them, they don't show up and I get the message "no items match your search". So how THE HELL does it work!?
I normally use Photoshop CS6 and appreciate that Capture One may not open files the same (simple) way. It seems more like Lightroom.
I am absolutely tearing my hair out with frustration, none of the tutorials or forums seem to give any straight answers.
NB. The program is bang up to date and is a 60 day fully functioning trial downloaded from the company's website.

using CS6 you may need to convert your ARW file format into something else. I have to convert some of mine from Canon CR2 into standard DNG files in order for my CS3 to process them

Thanks Chris, I was just watching that - it is one FIDDLY NASTY COMPLICATED and CONVOLUTED program!!! All I want to do is diddle around with a few images but I have to go through all this ridiculous rigmarole importing/opening sessions/opening catalogues/naming them/backing them up before I can even start working on any images. I find this guy's tutorial (albeit very thorough) a bit fast and jerky - I've had to do a LOT of pausing and replaying. I think he might be demonstrating an older version too because the crucial bit (where I am stuck) looks different.
I am now stuck at the importing from a "catalogue" to a "session" stage.
I'm close to giving up.

Thanks Slapshot, CS6 does work up to a point but it doesn't handle Fuji raw (RAF) files very well (and it point blank refuses to process HDRs). Capture One is one of two programs that came up tops for extracting the best detail from Fuji Xtrans sensor equipped cameras.
My plan *was* to process the raw files in Capture One, then scurry back to my familiar CS6 comfort zone with the results to finish off!

Hi,
Didn't your camera(Fuji) come with a disc containing the software 'Raw File Converter EX Powered by Silkypix, converts,edits & saves to RAF'? Also there is a free software product that coverts to .DNG. Try using the brilliant FREE program 'FastStone-Image Editor'. Good luck & I wish I could afford CS6!!!

Thanks GP, I was being impatient and non-methodical when I was trying out Capture One. I have since found out that you don't really have to go through all that organization stuff. Also I had it set to 'digital back capture' and that's why I couldn't get it to do anything. It's fine now.
Yes the camera came with a disc but I tend to chuck them to one side as in my experience packaged software like this can tend to take over and you have to do a lot of customising.
I had thoroughly researched before I found out that Capture One was in the top three for dealing with the fine detail Xtrans sensors can reproduce.
I now have the fully working latest version on trial for about a month.
I'll work out what to do when that expires as it's quite expensive.
