quite a lot, as Clanad points out. A more usual reason for wars is greed - one person/tribe/country wants land that belongs to another. Wars are sometimes fought on more or less ideological grounds - the US civil war could perhaps be counted among them. And there is a long history of Islamic-Christian warfare, as Islam in its early days was very militant. But much religious conflict is really about economics, when folllowers of one religion find themselves discriminated against; the Northern Ireland fighting wasn't actually Catholicism v Protestantism.
oh, and at least one war has been about football, which may count as religion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_War
Many wars are perhaps not started due to religion but along the way it gets involved to the point of hysteria, I include communism in this. WW11, Korea, Vietnam, Spanish Civil War, Afghanistan, Iraq. Iraq was invaded on the basis of findin WMD's, has everyone forgot. Now we are trying to impose a (christian!!) democratic way of life in an Islamic culture. How did we get to that from WMD's.
Dropgoal 3 seems reluctant to blame religion for wars. Of course they are to blame. Religion does not always equal Bible teaching. Anyone following Bible guidance would NOT promote or condone warfare. Organised religion HAS. One example is the Crusades. Untold thousands died in a futile attempt to secure Jerusalem. If the Catholic church at that time had read the Bible, they would have realized that God does not depend on churches or places, and especially ICONS, to be part of worship to Him. In both world wars, so called Christian leaders on both side blessed troops and weapons of war prior to battle. Doing everything that Jesus taught AGAINST.
