If I was Dave I'd sweep the whole sorry shower down the kasi and have a 100 member elected house. This latest insolence gives him the excuse he needs to do just that.

As Jim points out, they've already thought of that and then given up because of objections - from Tories. Perhaps they will try more vigorous use of the Whip this time.

When all is said and done, that lack of debate, on this occasion (if that is a fair assessment of a session I have not seen for myself), needs further attention.
In case that is ambiguous I mean the WTC cuts need their proper share of Lords scrutiny and there needs to be an additional enquiry into why this didn't occur, first time around.
The short version is that the Lower House chose to take a shortcut, to stifle debate and the Lord's said "ahem" and sent it back to be done properly, as a Finance Bill.
