If I was Dave I'd sweep the whole sorry shower down the kasi and have a 100 member elected house. This latest insolence gives him the excuse he needs to do just that.

Maggibee. Couldn't agree with you more only at the next referendum invite the English to participate. Sure fire way of achieving the independence you people crave.

As Jim points out, they've already thought of that and then given up because of objections - from Tories. Perhaps they will try more vigorous use of the Whip this time.

Thanks for that link.

//"The House of Lords has an important job as a chamber that says 'have you thought about this' or raises concerns and there were opportunities for the House of Lords to do that yesterday.
"They didn't take those opportunities"//

When all is said and done, that lack of debate, on this occasion (if that is a fair assessment of a session I have not seen for myself), needs further attention.

In case that is ambiguous I mean the WTC cuts need their proper share of Lords scrutiny and there needs to be an additional enquiry into why this didn't occur, first time around.

The short version is that the Lower House chose to take a shortcut, to stifle debate and the Lord's said "ahem" and sent it back to be done properly, as a Finance Bill.
