Teething??
Hi all. My 2 week old appears to have 2 teeth coming through (on the bottom, the 2 central teeth). This has astonished me. Is this uncommon?

To have teeth so young is rare but quite normal, its usually the front two bottom teeth that appear at any age, although my little boy didn't get any teeth til he was 9 months old, now at 21 months old he's still growing them! i thought he'd never get any!.
I have read in books of babies being born with teeth, poor mummy if your baby is being breastfed! you will be amazed how long it will take for the teeth to grow once theyve popped out of the gums, it takes ages! I think you will probably find these teeth will be the only two your baby will have for quite few months now though.
I wish you all the happiness with your new baby, have fun and make sure you rest when you can x

My son's first teeth were through fully at six weeks old and he was definitely teething from about 2 weeks old. He had all his first teeth at a very early age and likewise all his adult teeth were through early too.
Both a pediatrition and a Dentist have told me quite seriously that children that get their teeth early are usually very intelligent and they are not quite sure of the reason why; but that is a definite link. So you may have a young Einstein on your hands!
Best wishes.
