Router Problems

Good morning,
My wifi service provider is Talktalk and I use their Dlink router. The router has two Ethernet ports which are very close together.

Until last week the only Ethernet connection was for the Talktalk TV box.

I had a British Gas Hive installed which has taken up the second Ethernet port.

Because the ports are so close the connections are not secure when both cables are in their respective port.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can secure both cables or should I get a new router, in which case can someone suggest a suitable make.

I'm confused as to how having two Ethernet ports close to each other could lead to the cables becoming insecure. Once an Ethernet plug has been pushed into its socket, it should 'click' home in such a way that a couple of championship-winning tug-of-war teams couldn't pull the connection apart.

If you're forced to get a new router then (unless you need a model with the absolute maximum wi-fi range) ANY router with more than two Ethernet ports should meet your requirements (since you can use, for example ports 1 & 4, so that the cables won't some close to each other). I'm perfectly happy with my ZyXEL model:

Alternatively, have a gripe at TalkTalk and tell them you need a router with more ethernet ports (they do have them). If they won''t pay ball threaten to elave them.
