it came into head today .When I was at school the teacher had asked us to bring in something which if put in to the sea it would float .I brought in a stick ,but some of the better off brought in more expensive stuff .One lad brought in a scale replica of a cruise liner. Tony Joe Little well I dare not tell you what he brought in .Do the good people of answer bank have any memories of having to bring some thing in for a topic .Think now it's called show and tell .
When I was in primary school we were told to bring in the oldest book we could find in the family. We didn't have any really old books and I fretted about it. I nagged my mum and on the day in question she grabbed a random book from a pile on her bedside table and shoved it into my school bag.
All the other kids had ancient family bibles, books from the 19th century.....and then there was me.... with a paperback copy of Lady Chatterly's Lover
We didn't have show and tell in those days.
It turned out the teacher had an ulterior motive as the juniors were putting on a school play set in the past in a library......
