With great trepidation, I said I'd help out with the 'All Stars' (a group of local children) a month or so ago. I thought my past 30-odd years of teaching - ending in a hugely difficult school which nearly broke me - might make this difficult. Like Tilly, I am absolutely loving it! We've made huge medals for Remberance Sunday and I feel rejuvenated.
Why is that, Daisy ?.
Question Author
Don't tell them, Daisy. They don't need to know that.
That sounds good Tilly, I am glad you are enjoying it.
Question Author
well done, Jourdain. Long may you continue. Fabulous, isn't it? All the benefits and none of the dreaded responsibility.
I just waiting for my DRB to come through do I can go into the local primary to see if I 'take' to it (I don't fancy going back to secondary).
Question Author
Good luck with that, Sher. Do you mean DBS?
Tilly - it's good isn't it! :o) x
Probably Tilly. I'm used to year 10 and older but that was a while ago.
Question Author
So am I, Sher but I'm now working with Yr 1 and Yr 2.

Absolutely delightful. You will like the little 'uns.
God no, (seriously don't think I could do infants). I'm going to start in Year 6 and then, if I think it's going ok, I'm going to work my way down (it's a bit awkward as girl is in year 5 and the things are in year 3).
Question Author
best wishes, Sher. I am sure you will get back into it in no time at all.

Year 6 are lovely. I was Head of Year 6 for a number of years and really enjoyed working with the 10 year olds. Young enough to be lovely and not quite old enough to be a pain!
Sher - I was Secondary-trained; ended up Yr's 9 upwards for too many years. I had the occasional visit to Juniors/top Infants when working Supply after birth of children - they were lovely visits and I soon learnt a lot because I had children the same age. Don't worry!
I'm a little concerned because people assume that I like/have an affinity with children because I have a few of my own - we'll see how it goes. I have known the year 6 teacher for some time now so she knows what I'm like but is still happy to let me in her classroom.
