Good idea slinky, dogs are better at following sons.
They let off a load last night around here. Some of them made me jump!!!!
What on earth are they putting in them, dynamite?!?!
A friend of mine is so desperate to help her two dogs through tonight that she's going to put cotton wool in their ears and a bandage round their ears ! She has tried everything else, thunder shirts, sedatives and something called, I think, Felway (but not sure) that she plugs into an electric socket. I feel so sorry for her and her dogs.
My Sally( a lurcher like yours if I'm not mistaken, slinky) is terrified of any loud noises...with fireworks the ultimate baddies. I've found Valerian helps a bit...but nothing makes her truly at ease.
We've got our horses in the barn early, with the top doors closed and radio 2 on a bit louder than normal. We are Rural and its very foggy so hopefully there will not be much noise but we always tend to get a few rockets set off.

its quite wet here so that might deter them a bit, loads got let off last night but we were going to that concert,so we closed all the doors and windows, put telly on,left the lamp on,he was fine when we got back.actually he's not to bad ,only when the noises are sudden.
I wish all fireworks were banned !
So do I, whirly. They cause so much anguish to animals and people.
+1 from me! Poor Sally is under my feet, trying to find safety....dribbling and panting. I hate it.
I had a bomb-proof labrador (honestly, one could - and did- fire a 12-bore about a foot away) followed by a lab/border-collie cross, who was highly intelligent, but terrified of fireworks.

I was interested to see how current, nervy, mongrel terrier would cope tonight. Answer, he's sailed through it! This to my amazement actually. He is used to seeing huge firework displays in France for Bastille day - from inside a conservatory and at a safe distance - but, of course, they don't do Bonfire night. He trotted out for his evening walk as per usual and never turned a hair at the whistling, banging things!
That's good, Jourdain. You are very lucky.

Tilly's the same. She doesn't give a monkeys about the fireworks. I have had dogs that were terrified though and it's horrible for everyone.

cody refused to budge all day yesterday, sat at my feet all day,son carried him outside but he dragged him back, had a good walk this morning and he's back to normal
Tonight might be a problem, Kate. Lots of firework displays tonight and tomorrow, around here.
I agree with you whirly 100%, or at least just have organised displays on the 5th !
We were lucky neither of our last two dogs, both GSDs, were bothered in the least by fireworks the only time I saw Max react was one time when he was having his evening walk when a used rocket stick came down near us and then he just seemed to skip aside and look at me as if to say "where the *** did that come from"
