Fridge Freezer Not Working. Not Cold..no Ice..... Advise

wifey has just called me , her fridge is broken, 2 year old matsui fridge bought from argos, no reciept .

she says lights are on, running via electric etc but just not cold either top fridge or freezer compartment.

maybe needs new gas into bottle ?

The thermostat would be the first thing to look at..

If it is a fridge freezer with a shared compressor then it should be kept in a house. These sometimes have the freezer part slaved to the fridge so if it is kept in a garage which is cooler than the fridge thermostat setting then the compressor doesn't run to cool the fridge so the freezer isn't cooled either .

its in her kitchen which is warm and dry

Does the compressor run when the thermostat is turned to its coldest setting? If it has a fast freeze switch it on, the compressor should be audible. If it doesn't cool with the compressor running then It seems as if the gas has leaked away.

If the fridge really is Matsui, it didn't come from Argos.
Matsui is/was an "own-brand" of the Dixons Group...eg Currys.
