Do any one agree that the dog training programmes being shown on tv lately should carry a do not try this at home warning,I have been training and working dogs for a number of years gsds and border collies,I went to a house of a new dog owner this week to see her new 10 week puppy she had been shaking a bottle have filled with pepples to correct the puppie when it did something wrong this she had seen on training programmes ,then could not understand why the pup was getting jumpy and scared around noise, when i explained this was to help correct a learnt behaviour in older dogs she under stood the damage she might have done but it makes me wonder what other methods are being picked up from these programmes i will be working with her and the pup from now on and encourge her to go training classes as well

Thank you for your replys, i did watch the one programme with the boxer doing agility , hoped they explained its not all about getting a dog to jump over things. when i did agility with collie it took more than a week to get it right months in fact ,like all dog training its a on going commitment and im still learning after all the years ive worked dogs
