New direction
2 Answers
HI guys, Im 37, been in the same job (legal secretary) for 18 years now and really fancy a change and retraining, but do find it a bit daunting. Has anyone taken a complete change in career/job direction by doing something completely different - how did you get on and was it a good or bad experience?

On the other hand, Im really disillusioned with my current job its not what I expected ( I should have stayed at auxiliary level so I could actually spend some time with patients instead of worrying about bed numbers and staffing!)
Do whats in your heart and you will never regret it.
Hi Maggie-Mae, I used to be a legal secretary and thought the same thing, needed a change of career. I went into catering and bar work and while I enjoyed it at the time (took a massive drop in pay though) as I got a little older I realised I preferred the comfort of an office and good pay. However, I left it too late to get back in to legal as so much had changed. I am still a PA but always wish I had never left in the first place. Having been on the other side of the fence, I didn't find it a better place. Sorry not to be more positive. Good luck whatever you decide to do.
