France can bomb a few pick-up trucks from 5 miles high, but that isn't going to win a war. Hollande hasn't the guts or the resolve to do anything to beat ISIS.

There is no chance of that happening.

In the end, IS will be destroyed, if that is even possible now, by boots on the ground. However the majority of thos boots need to be filled with Midlle Eastern feet, not European or American feet.

Even then there will be remnants, so none of this is going to end any time in the near future.

Hollande is a a weak president who has been catapulted into a hugely significant position. Until recently, he has been scorned. NOW, he is all they've got. Everything he says is against that background.

I rather suspect that he is casting around for supporting ideas and does have much notion of actual statements regarding the word 'war.

I may be wrong - he is quoted as saying 'Aux armes, la France'

Marie Le Pen is keeping very quiet and there are elections looming - be prepared for a lurch to the right over there.
