Windows 10 Yet Again.
19 Answers
I still get messages inviting me to instal Windows 10 and I wonder if I'm the last person on the planet without it.
I have Windows 7 Professional and don't have any problems.
Looking ahead, would you advise me to go for 10 or stay as I am ?
Thanks.

I have Windows 7 on a laptop but prefer my Desktop which is satisfactorily performing with Windows Vista Home Basic.
Buenchico made an appropriate statement in one of the threads to which Baldric has drawn our attentions........."You have one month from upgrading (or should that be 'downgrading'?) to Windows 10 to go back to your former operating system."

I found 7 OK but it was beginning to limp a bit, which I think is an issue with this machine as much as the OS. I tried 10 and while it performed well for about ten days it then 'encountered a fatal error'. I decided to end my relationship with microsoft then, and have been using Xubuntu on the same cranky laptop with no problems at all.
You can easily learn how to install an opensource OS like Xubuntu, and if you want to extend the useable life of an older laptop I'd recommend it.
I'm highly suspicious about the likely outcome of microsoft's push to the brave new online world of W10.

I initially installed W10 on my laptop and waited to see what effect it had.
I have now upgraded my desktop and both machines are working well, slightly faster than W7 Home premium. I only had one issue concerning drivers, but that was not Microsofts fault, rather a manufacturers fault in being a tad slow on releasing W10 drivers.
The only other issue I had was with the privacy settings as regards Windows updates, which I was able to modify.
However the choice is yours alone to take ☺☺☺

Smart move derekpara. You'll have until next July to make a final decision.
Microsoft has guaranteed that W10 will be free to W7 & W8.1 users for 12months from date of launch. Furthermore, it has even been suggested on some Internet sites that Microsoft might extend the 'knock-off' period, indefinitely.
