Donating Blood
7 Answers
silly question but my daughter donated blood for the first time today, when she was sitting in the chair donating they put a red ticket on her chair, she was the only one at that time who had this red ticket, does anyone know what it could mean, we thought it was because it was her first time but there were other newbies there as well with no red tickets

I asked my missus about this, 'cos she regularly gives blood. She's had a red ticket put on her chair before. It's to inform the staff to keep an eye on that person. My missus went to give blood once and she went dizzy, so the next time she went, they placed a red ticket on her chair as a marker, so that the staff could keep a more watchful eye on her. Why didn't she ask ?
You say she had problems, so that may have been the reason.
On only my second donation I had a very bad experience and they gave up (after much physical effort which was painful at times) and ended up with only a small donation.
It was only because my first experience had been such a doddle that I carried on - 100 donations later I had had no further problems at all - it turned out that the second time my blood had clotted in the tube. So don't let your daughter be put off, it may be a one-off experience like mine.

I know that you said your daughter had never given blood before, but maybe there was something that prompted the staff to give her a red ticket - medical history maybe .... or maybe she was just nervous ??
