Surely ANYONE buys the car they can buy because they can't afford the car they can't afford??!! i.e "have only bought a Boxster because they can;t afford a 911" - does a Merc c-class driver not drive an AMG CLS55 for the same reason? A 318ci BMW driver not drive an M3 for the same reason? I have NEVER understood this logic - it extends throughout motoring - which Discovery driver would turn down a Vogue SE??

I've never owned a boxter - but have driven two. It was great - a joy to drive, and that wasn't even the 'S'. My last car was a BMW 728 - a cracking car, and I prided myself on being consciencious and doing my best to prove that we're not all ######s!!

I'd love a Boxter as a B-road car; I'd love a 911 more, obviously, but I take what I can afford.

It's incredible the sour grapes on this site. I'm now buying a BMW 530D Sport (E39) - why? Maybe because I'm a ######? Maybe because I own the road? Maybe because I don't use my indicators or like to hog the outside lane?

Or maybe, just maybe, becuase it's one of the best driver's cars in the world, around 200BHP, great equipment level, bullet proof residuals and a fantastic driving experience coupled with 50mpg.

Well I've got a TVR for weekends - don't ever knock it until you've tried it. Originally, I test drove various Ferraris, Porsches, Beemers, etc.. but nothing even came close to the driving experience of a TVR. I've had it two years now and the only problem I've had is a blown brake light bulb. Quite frankly, I don't give a flying to$$ what people think of me because the driving experience is so enthralling nothing else matters!
