outlook express
4 Answers
I have recently changed from wanadoo dial up to BT broadband. I want to keep my email address but when I open outlook express it wants me to dial up to connect to the server but I am already connected to the internet through broadband. I know I can collect my emails from wanadoos website but is it possible to alter outlook express to collect them without dialing up?

Don't forget you'll need to create a new account even to keep your old address as your smtp will have changed to "mail.btinternet.com". Also, wanadoo will lock you out of your account every 3 months as you won't be dialling up with them anymore. If you get stuck mail
As I have recently changed ISP I can sort of sympathise with wanting to retain your email address. However as a generalisation the root of ones email is directly tied to the ISP. In the long term it is simpler to change and let everybody know. A sort of way around this for the future would be to have 2 providers i.e. BT and MS Hotmail(for example).
I changed from Freeserve to BT Broadband and forgot to dial up every now and then to keep the account alive so now it's gone! Never mind.
What I did, and what I suggest you do, is get myself a GoogleMail (or Gmail as it was back then) account which can be used through a regular email program as well as on the web. You can also keep it if you move ISP or even if you move country or continent! Ask camioneur above and (s)he might have a spare one (s)he can pass you.
