I know that this has a massive fan base but in the three times I've caught it I've found it hard to watch as it's so embarrassingly over the top. I do think that the formula works as once I've seen the beginning of an episode I've continued to watch it through to see what happens but I can't help but watch it from behind my cushion. The first one I saw was a couple of months ago and this girl did really well on it her adoptive parents were there and everyone was crying including the other contestants saying she "deserved it" and was a "magnificent player" besides from the fact that this a largely a game of luck I don't see how people can get so worked up about. Then on Saturday I caught Max's game, this was the most cringe-worthy thing I've ever seen she was meditating on the floor, playing up to the crowd just being so OTT. I think that it could be toned down a bit; does anyone agree with me, or am I (as I imagine) in the minority??

I agree! It is just pure luck, no amount of "good playi" or talismans or anything else will change which numbers are in which boxes! I watched a few, then had to stop!
CarolG - i agree with you 100%. I have tried my hardest to watch this programme (considering that alot of people absolutely love it), but i just cannot see the fascination. You're right, at times, it can become rather cringing to watch and at other times, the contestants are soooooo annoying i want to chuck my remote at the TV.

Check out my question i posted previously.....

I must confess Shortylilly, I am rather surprised from your post just how many people are in agreement with us. I was expecting a load of abuse back from fans of this show giving it "if you dont like it, dont watch it", which seems to be the general argument on this site when people dislike programs! At least Im not the only one who finds this show a little ridiculous, to say the least!
I quite enjoy the programme, but when I returned to watching it (after a gap of about a month) I found it to be embarrassingly over the top and contrived. People holding hands, mediatating and all that other rubbish is NOT going affect anything ! Why do they bother ? They've turrned a good game show into drivel - I still watch it, but often have to switch over because it makes me cringe.
I watched the American version of this show and it was so funny! Ladies in posh dresses and lots of flashing lights, not a Noel in sight!
