Ha ha! mosaic! Actually a hip replacement means a walk in the park, over the moors etc. after a few weeks. My surgeon told me that hips are run-of-the-mill these days, knees are trickier but they've got the hang of them now and they are working on ankles and having increasing success! Had 2 hip replacements - that dreadful, dreadful pain went immediately I woke up after each.
Shoulders are tricky. A friend in France had one. She struggles with the rehab. a bit and having one arm strapped to your chest for a while is inconvenient - but her pain went and she now has a useable arm (not as good as it could be, but it works). I'd say 'go for it' - but you will need help afterwards for a while.
