Windows 10

Decided to try out windows 10 on laptop prior to my PC. Although it took a while to download it then commenced searching for updates. That was an hour ago and still no further movement. Is this normal and should I just leave it to run? The laptop was running windows 7. Thanks Tel

Do you mean that W10 is now installed and running and searching for updates? Or do you mean that during the install process it started searching for updates and has not finished installing?

It was down loading, then asked me to confirm I accepted terms etc, which I did, then it stated "Getting Updates" "may take a few minutes then "checking for updates 0%" small circle of spots rotate. Tel

For info, seen this happen on a number of PC's when upgrading from Win 7 to Win 10.

After a number of hours waiting (2+) for updates to complete, canceled the installation process and then initiated another install, selecting the installation option to ignore updates and the install went through ok. When the install completed and Win 10 started up ok, it automatically downloaded and successfully applied any required updates.

I also upgraded from Windows 7, at one point I thought the process had frozen but just left it and it eventually all happened, took about five hours. Our broadband is pretty slow so that was probably a factor
