How does it effect you when you are low on salt in the body?

Google hyponatraemia, but before you do, let me tell you that low levels of sodium in the body, apart from extreme vomiting and diarrhea ....is extremely rare.

Husband had a blood test a while ago that came back ....low in salt.
has been on salt tablets for a couple of weeks, and has to go back in morning to hosspital for further blood test. He is very forgetfull and confused at time.
I dont discuss much with him as he doesnt take much on board,,,talk to myself.
I wondered if low in salt does cause these symptons and how I can help him. Cheers Buen
