I felt the interior of the church had lost its way architecturally and I found myself wondering if they'd spent up on the build and hoped to catch up one day on the fixtures and fittings, but one day never came..... eg very ugly aluminium framed inner doors, cheap n nasty lighting solutions (chapel of the holy oils - belting great fluorescent tube over the holy objects), and the Nativity installation was the worst, being some kind of contemporary art installation mixed with political message. Also noticed that the approach on the Brownlow Hill side is in need of repair, with broken treads on steps etc.
I believe the diocese has engaged in a rebuild or repair debate, which is interesting.
