Don't get chocolates! They get inundated. I always give my hairdresser a voucher or cash, then she can get something she wants.

A nice bottle of wine should be ideal. Added to all the other gifts they get, they can either be eaten and drunk by all in the lead up to Christmas or on their last day they can be shared out among the staff to take home.

If you give at Christmas then I think it should be a gift, it's not a tip surely. Cheap wine is probably not appreciated by many. I don't think you can have too much chocolate at Christmas :-)

I got quite a lot of chocolate in the post last year from In-laws, I think I was stitched up by OH as I'm Type 2 Diabetic, IT WAS A FIX!!!!!!

I don't tip my hairdresser ever. She charges more than quite enough. The reason I go there is that she is an excellent hairdresser. The staff in my surgery are great, and I give them one of those nice large boxes of chocs to share, and a bottle of wine for my diabetic nurse who is great. I don't give the bin men anything, because they are different guys all the time, so I do not know them. I would give a tip if they were the same guys each week.

I will normally tip my barber, she does my hair nicely, I no it's as much as you ladies pay
