Sony Vaio All-In-One, Keyboard Not Responding
6 Answers
My Sony PC is running Windows 8.1 - Model is SVL2412M1EB
When starting up the PC a start screen appears which requires a keyboard input (like pressing the Esc key) to take me to the Windows log-in screen.
This suddenly stopped working and I am now stuck on that initial screen and cannot get any further. I have checked and replaced the batteries in the keyboard and the mouse but no change.
I have also tried plugging in a USB keyboard and that didn't respond either. Everything else seems to be working fine and Windows seems to continue loading but I cannot access anything as the screen is stuck on the initial image.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Pablo
PS The keyboard antenna light flashes orange (which I think it did before too) but the mouse doesn't light up at all

You should be able to log in with a mouse-click.
If a password is required, you can use the On-screen keyboard to enter it.
(There's a little icon at bottom left which will activate the onscreen keyboard).
If you can get to the desktop like this, you can then investigate further.
Sometimes when p[lugging in a different keyboard, the drivers won't load for the first time until you are logged in.
Also, some wireless keyboards need to be paired with the receiver after a battery change. How you do this will depend on the brand of keyboard, but it is usually a variation on - long-press button on receiver until you see a falshing light, then press button on underside of keyboard.

Thank you all !
The issue is now resolved thanks to the John Lewis Tech team at Bluewater.
Special thanks to Paul, who managed to find a Sony 'ASSIST' button on the side of the display which allowed him to restore the PC to a point previous to the problem arising.
It was probably due to a corrupt driver possibly the result of a Windows update.
Back to work now after getting rid of the initial start screen.
