Can I Take Food On Board An Aeroplane?
Going away next week-end, and wondered if I'd be allowed to take food on board - sausage rolls etc.
I know I can't take liquids, but not sure about food rules.
Thanks

No problem taking it on in the UK. Might be a problem if you want to take it off at your destination. The US,Canada e.g. are very strict on food imports even it they are sandwiches not consumed in flight.
A teacher friend of my sister in Canada tried to bring back fresh sausages from her parents village in the UK . Canadian Customs said she had to surrender them so she threw them on the floor and danced all over them. She picked them up and handed them to the bemused customs officer and said,"If I can't eat my sausages you sure as hell won't either".

There is no problem with taking food through the security check - I have seen people take commercially produced/packaged things (ready-to-eat food) in sealed plastic containers through without any objection being raised which did surprise me a bit. As confirmed, liquids must be in at most 100ml containers to a total of one litre (i.e. ten 100ml containers) in a single re-sealable bag. Note that the bags generally available at the airports are far too small for this so take your own if you plan to have lots of liquids.
You can take liquids and sausage rolls with you. 1L bag is allowed to the passengers. They can take liquids and food in that bag. But the bag must be transparent so that the screening officer can see the content.
