Sorry, wrong carol. Should have said while shepherds watched.
You're in the pub already then, Melv?..... ;-)
shepherds washed their socks by night

surely
I'm confused - is that Good King Wencelas sung to tune of While Shepherds Watched - or While Shepherds Watched to the tune of On Ilkley Moor ;-)
//Good King Wenceslas sung to the tune of On Ilkley Moor bah tat//

While shepherds watched! Bring on the Thornbridge Jaipur..hic
Good King Stephen last went out
On the feast of Wenceslas
When a snowball hit him in the eye
Nearly knocked him senseless
I'll have you know "On Ilkla Moor" is sacred. You can't sing tatty old carols to that tune. ( Especially carols to which you can't remember the words)
It's my national anthem. Like I said, sacred.
Up the White Rose.
So there.
If you like that melv try While Shepherds in the version by John Foster.
