I have a small flat and no central heating, and am considering getting a few traditional style but electric powered radiators installed rather than the expense and upheaval of a full-on gas central heating system. Has anyone else done this and can recommend electric radiators as a suitable alternative? Are they really loads more expsive to run?

I used to use electric Delonghi oil-filled radiators and found that they were good at storing heat (possibly due to oil cooling slower than water?) once switched off. I may be wrong but I think that gas central heating will save you a lot of money in the long run. A friend recently had gas central heating installed and was amazed at how little mess and disruption there was.
