Just wondering if any of you still used Friends Reunited or has FB taken over? Is there any point with Friends anymore as everyone seems to be on FB these days.

Haven't looked on it for years. It was pointless for me anyway....I was still in touch with the majority of my school friends.
I am registered, don't use Facebook or any similar sites - no time!
I can't remember the last time I was on Friends Reunited, I didn't like the way it changed after it was sold. I do use FB very frequently though.
i've never used it or seen the point! x
It was blamed for many a broken marriage...
I use it now and then. I've exchanged messages with some old classmates and have been contacted by lots of ex-pupils of mine. It's not the same purpose as FB though really is it.
I wanted to find a person I cared for's parents, the only thing I had to go on was, his mother was in a mental home in Cheshire, it had take me 5 . 6 weeks of searching & with the help of friends Reunite I found the family grave, it contained all his family, the person could not speak but the look on face when I took him there said it all.
the man who set up the site went to my school.. I think he did quite well out of it.
I'm not and not likely to be either. It seems to me that Facebook has caused a lot of problems and controversy so I have determined to leave well alone.

I've never used Friends Reunited but I do use FB which seems so popular. I just wondered if Friends will eventually die out as more people are using FB these days.
Have no reason to delete the details or FR, but it was a bit of a bore: no one I recalled got in touch anyway.

Don't have an account of FB. FR had an aim, FB is just a social site everyone seems to think they have to be on, and that just puts me off. Not going to be one of the herd simply to be one of the herd.
Face book if used properly can be very good, the problem is, the site is not managed or monitored well enough.
I always thought that, if you hadn't bothered to stay in touch, there was probably a reason for that.

I've always stayed in contact with a lot of girls from my school house. A big proportion of the people I do business with are girls from my house, or married to girls from my house.

Having said this, I think FR was an inspired creation, and I'm glad the creator did well out of it (even if it has been superseded by Facebook).
The person I was on about JJ had been put in a home at the age of 6, stopped there until he was about 14 then went on to a mental hospital & all but a few of his records went missing, I took on the challenge because there was three other Service Users in the house and all their family came to visit them, this person had no-one.
I used it for a while to see who else from my school year was on it - I haven't been back to it for ages - but then I don't use FB either in that way, I wouldn't go round looking for old school friends on FB
That's quite moving, TWR.
'It was blamed for many a broken marriage'

Just like Facebook then
I have resurrected this thread because our little group on FR have just received the devastating news that Friends Reunited is to shut down very shortly.

Personally, l have found old school friends through this site and some have found me. We have rekindled friendships, kept in contact by e-mail and, in a few cases, visited one another.

The most important benefit to me personally has been the set-up of a little group of ladies, plus one gentleman, who regularly chat in a friendly way. No arguments and absolutely no politics. We come from different parts of England, Scotland, USA, Canada, South Africa and Australia. The lady who 'introduced' us all is originally from Manchester but is married to a German and has been living in Germany for over 20 years.

The news that Friends Reunited is to close down has come as a bombshell to us all. Many of you may not bother with this site but to us it has been invaluable for many years.
