Gall Stones

Had a ultrasound today - rushed through because of my excessively high blood tests.

Apparently I am riddled with gall stones and some have moved down?

Whilst waiting for the referral back to the consultant can you please tell me what can or will happen next?

What high blood tests?
What symptoms do you have...jaundice, pain or indeed no symptoms?

All we know is that you have a gall bladder full of stones and the Consultant will need to know if they are causing, or likely to cause any problems.

He may decide that the gall stones are not causing your problems, hence nothing further need be done. However if he feels that you gallstones are causing the problem, then he will asvice removal of the gall bladder (cholecystectomy)

Poor you! I had lots of stones too. I was called by my GP after my ultrasound to ask what I wanted to do, to go for surgery to have it out basically.

I said yes, GP warned of some warning signs (dark wee, lighter other) which I was already having. Just a few days later I was in hospital with acute cholecystitis. Was discharged to wait for an operation and had it taken out about four months later.

I was badly affected with pain and other issues and it was a huge relief to get it taken out, was going nasty and had split which might explain why I was feeling so awful with it though, didn't want to just put a horror story out there without some context.

I wish I'd been able to have my gallbladder out sooner to be honest. In and out in a day and off work for two weeks to recover, was very glad to have my Mum up with me for some days after the operation but recovered well.

I've heard that there are other treatments but I honestly don't know about any of them. A fair few people on here had had issues too when I was posting about mine.

All blood test that were taken were very high (billyreubens?) First tests were taken on 7th December in with the consultant on 23rd and ultrasound today!

Consultant did say that if I had gone to hospital I would have been kept in - 6 days vomiting, pain in chestbone area felt like a blockage, no actual pain in the gall bladder until pressed during ultrasound.

Also for context, I should say that I was having problematic symptoms before I had my ultrasound, which led to the ultrasound being done, a lot of pain mainly, typical gallstone attacks being the main thing. So the move to have my gallbladder out was relief of symptoms.

I went yellow right before my operation so wondering if one of the stones pinged off and blocked something.

OK...in a nutshell, he will advice removal, either by keyhole surgery or open abdominal surgery, probably the former.
