Pity Steve's Digicams site hasn't reviewed it but here are the recommended ones:-

The Canon Ixus range has an excellent reputation. Mine isn't a digital one, it's the older ixus II. I got the best buys from Which and was highly recommended. Had over 5 years of great service from it and cracking snaps.
No report on 800 model yet but reports 700 model as:
"A great camera. It has a lightning-fast shutter delay, takes good quality movies and is very small and pocketable. Lacks aperture/shutter speed priority modes."
With digital cameras, I beleive that shutter delay is one of the most important (especially when trying to capture special moments) - delays can mean you miss things.

With canons you won't go too far wrong. They're good cameras. But still have a look round, and see if you can think of what you want in the camera.
Is it most important for you that it's small so you can put it in your bag? Will you be mostly taking pictures of your kids? (then you'll want something with some sort of fast shutter mode so that the action is frozen and not blurred). That sort of thing.
Sony and Fuji also make some good cameras too. My personal tip is Casio, check them out. They're generally very well priced, and have some really excellent cameras. They're often overlooked because people associate them (as I did initially) as a manufacturer of watches and calculators, and not really in the camera business. While that was once very true, their current breed of cameras is superb. I own the Z750, and I know of two professional photographers who say that they carry it round with them in their pocket, just in case their main big expensive SLR gets damaged.

Morning all, I am looking for a digital camera for 2 elderly neighbours who have broken theirs. Nothing fancy, they don't need video or anything complicated as they are both in their 80's. The reviews are mind boggling and I don't want to recommend something not suitable, the one they had was a Nikon Coolpix S200? and the lens got stuck in the out position and can't be moved, to old to be repaired. Thanks for any help
