Local Pantomime
9 Answers
Went to our local one tonight as twin granddaughters were in it. Sorry to say not up to usual standard. It was only the second night but they have been rehearsing for two months at least. Majority didn't know there lines, everyone was prompting each other, it got so bad they were laughing and joking about it.
They had problems with the curtains, either wouldn't open or close. At one point most of cast were on stage in front of curtains, they opened to reveal King and queen behind. That shouldn't have happened, curtains didn't move so King and queen grabbed the curtains and wrapped it round them until it was there time to come on, to the huge amusement of the audience. There was a little boy in it who was autistic. He had to be restrained all the time, he was waving and shouting and giving great deep bows all the time. He is in it every year, the son of one of the cast.
The twins didn't have lines, they were fairies and just wafted about. Twin1 when told she had to wear a pink tutu said IM NOT WEARING THAT. Since being about three she decided she was a boy and would not wear skirts, dresses or anything pink. She has calmed down a bit and refers to herself as a tomboy. Impressed they persuaded her to wear it though.
