A modest victory for the small man, although a neighbour of mine has lost his job there.

Just goes to show that if enough of us complain, often enough, we can win in the end.

I see nothing has been said about the stress these company's inflict on people, along with the fine these people should be fined for each Individual call that's been done.

TWR...this Company, and others have plagued me over the last 2 years and that's for sure !

But I hope people will take on my advice about complaining....if we all did it, the authorities would have no option but to act.
Mikey, Been there with these calls, done my own research into PPI, Regained £1400, It's a very simple process to go through, people do not need the help of these Scammers, they take money for a bit of looking which each person can do themselves.
from the report:-

//Under new laws being introduced by the UK government, direct marketing companies will soon have to display their phone numbers to customers - companies that do not will face fines of up to £500,000.//

that bit of legislation is an empty vessel. today the nuisance calls I get on a depressingly regular basis do display their numbers, but they don't in fact come from where the number suggests - the ability to "spoof" phone numbers has existed for some time.
Mushroom, you can put a stop to these calls by purchasing a B.T. Nuisance call blocker phone, we had calls from my Uncle in Africa telling me I have a share in a gold mine, won a million on a lottery, won a car, the phone was worth every penny of the cost and very easy to set up.

Mush...I agree 100%.

Its just a way for the Authorities to pretend to do something, while in actual fact, doing nothing whatsoever....window dressing, that is all.

TWR...you are of course correct and I did the same. But these fraudsters target the old and vulnerable and that is why they need to be driven out of business.
A technique passed on from a friend proved to be pretty good, if you receive a cold caller offering to sell you something say sorry I will have to leave you for a moment there is someone at the front door & leave the caller hanging on. Return to the phone later & hopefully your cold caller has run up a huge phone bill.
//Mushroom, you can put a stop to these calls by purchasing a B.T. Nuisance call blocker phone.... //

that's only effective if the scammers use the same indicated number; they don't. i've had calls from the same company (selling alleged fine wines) purporting to be from manchester, kidderminster, norwich, inverness and reading, to name but a few. with a number blocking phone, the scammers will always be a step ahead of you and you'll forever being adding new numbers to the list.
Never had a problem since this phone was set up Mush.
poor guys, it can't be easy trying to hire Welshmen to make nuisances of themselves...
