Everything was working fine earlier. The thermostat on the wall in my hall was on 20 degrees & about half an hour ago I thought it was getting chilly, went to turn the thermostat up & it is not "clicking" at all when turned like it normally does. Any idea what is causing this? I have checked the bar pressure on my combi boiler & that is ok. thanks in advance if you can help.

Is timer on

just to add, the thermostat is a Drayton RTS1
Is timer on

It sounds to me like the thermostat has packed up. Easy to replace and not overly expensive - you should be able to do it yourself but beware, there may be live mains on it.
Does the thermo communicate with the combi by radio? If so, batteries may need replacing in thermo.

Why not Joe, the thermostat should click when turned up and down, regardless of whether or not the heating is on.

Thanks for your replies. I haven't touched any timer controls so doubt it could be that. I have hot water & I can hear the boiler firing up every now & again. I don't think this particular thermo has batteries. I have home emergency cover on my insurance policy which covers breakdown of heating so I guess I will have to call them out tomorrow.
Please let us know the solution.

This is mighty odd. I've never touched the timer settings as I mentioned before but as someone had mentioned this, I went to the boiler cupboard opened the flap to the timer control & sure enough it was showing as "off". Fiddled with the settings, turned the downstairs thermo switch up & hey presto. Very odd indeed. Now have heat in radiators, thank goodness. Thanks for your help
Am so pleased you will be warm again.
Question Author
Yes, it is lovely to have heat again!

Glad you warm again
Question Author
I am very grateful to all of you but mystified as I've never touched the timer controls.
Sometimes this just happens only takes a millisecond power cut to shut off timer
It's nice when it's a simple solution; even better when it's free.
