The use of the word 'Spam' to mean unwanted electronic messages was started by the famous Monty Python 'Spam' sketch , so the joke is somewhat back to front.
Real Spam is actually quite nice but there are too many cheap imitations that get lumped in with the real thing. Great in Spam fritters in batter !
SPAM is almost the National dish of South Korea. It is a throwback to the Korean war when the starving civilians used to beg outside the US bases and were given spam,hotdogs and corned beef. It is called "Army Base Stew" and very tasty it is. I have cooked it.
