Whenever I open Yahoo mail I see an advertisement for funeral services. Apart from giving up Yahoo how can I avoid this?

Use a mail client on your PC to download your mail, Outlook or Thunderbird or some other client, then you will only see the mails themselves. I have no idea if there is anything 'special' about Yahoo which means you can't do this but I could be wrong :-)
