Is there any reason why established acts can't compete? I seem to recall Cliff Richard did back in the day. Is it because it's lost all credibility?

And does anyone think that if we did have an established group/ singer we'd win based on that fact alone?

I remember that tatu sang for Russia one year, and they were fairly well established.

Las Ketchup sang for Spain last night and they've been Number One over here with their Ketchup Song.

How do, B00! Any Irish ABers would tell you that Brian Kennedy is pretty well established over there, and in the not too distant past we have been represented by the likes of Michael Ball, Katrina & The Waves and, erm, Sonia (shudder), all of whom had hits before Eurovision.

Having a big name entrant may not on its own be enough. Cliff entered twice, coming second in 1968 with Congratulations and fourth in 1973 with Power To All Our Friends. So if Cliff can't manage it...
Let's not forget Lulu and Sandie Shaw who did win it.
The rules go something like this. Anyone can sing your song, They can be established or even from another country (eg Gina G). The important thing is that the writter of the song is from the country they are representing and they can never have had a proffessional contract before.

I was just idley wondering (you know, as you do!) how well we'd do if say Robbie Williams sang it for us one year!

I'm fed up of being embarrassed by our terrible entry year after year :-(

(waves to LOM- hello my friend xx)

Clodagh(?) Rogers did well I know and her sonmg was a hit here but I am too lazy this morning to google her and find out what it was.:( Morning B00)
Dot, I believe it was Jack In The Box. I really shouldn't know this much about Eurovision, should I?
Hi BOO, I think the simple fact remains that they all hate us and don't want us to win, whoever we put up there,it annoys them that English is the first language, especially the French, you could have, The Beatles, Queen whoever you can think of but I doubt we will ever win it again, and the song we put out last night didn't help, take care, Ray xx
