Well I can understand Smeg doing it with their fridges, as they were around in the 50s and 60s, but microwaves weren't, so to me, giving them a 50s 60s design is crazy.
I hope I get some credit from Asda, cos it looks like I've sold a few of their "retro" microwaves tonight :)

Ooh!! Talking of selling ploys, it reminded me of going in Barnardos charity shop this afternoon. It's a lovely bright and clean shop, and I like the way they arrange the clothes in colours...a rail for red, ditto for pink etc, and in sizes, starting with size 8, then going up left to right to size 22.
Well today, they were still in colour order, but all the sizes on every rail were mixed up! It was horrible, and I told them so! I can see the reasoning behind it, customers will look through more of the clothes, but a size 20 isn't going to become a 12 in an afternoon. ;)

I don't think that it looks bad - the only trouble is here it would last less than a week - my guess, a can of dog food put in there, the button pushed and a clkqclkqclkqclkqclkqclkqclkqclkq and a bloody good bang.

Nearly retrochic. Nice to see you btw. The first microwave was the magnetron valve used during WW2 in the nose cones of British fighter planes for radar detection at night. We sent one to the U.S.A. aboard a British destroyer with full rights to produce and develop for a few rusty old ships and ammunition that was useless. Another product of our ingenuity.

The humorous thing to me is I get people in the shop asking if I have anything 'retro' from the 80's and 90's.

Yep Retrochic, I can believe that. We have a charity shop here which sells only retro stuff, and there's 80s gear in there ;)
