Raisin wine that wasn't...

Anyone from southeast London remember the Co-op selling own brand Raisin Wine during the 60s and 70s? It wasn't wine or even alcoholic but a very sweet, deep red type of soft drink that you had in small quantities. I remember my grandmother buying it for us at Christmas and we pretended we were drinking real wine. It doesn't seem to be sold anymore (probably falling foul of the trade description act and full of banned additives!) and the supermarket cannot even seem to trace ever having sold it.
I have asked this question here before but wonder if any new readers know of it.

Tishbee, I've just revisited this thread and saw your post. Try this link to that company. It's a communion wine and looks like you'd have to buy a whole case, so a bit risky to be left with 12 bottles of the stuff if it disappoints! Who's brave enough to try?

I think I remember this too - glass bottles and the neck was decorated all over with small leaves. Used to have it on the IoW. I too have been looking for it but alas no luck yet.

I do indeed remember this and we had it in the 1950s at Christmas when the adults had their sherry etc. I loved it and found this site when I googled Raisin Cordial - it was never diluted as "cordial" in this respect wasn't used the same way it is today. We lived in Hounslow and shopped at the Co-op so that is probably where we got ours from. I am trying to find a current retailer for this product but so far have drawn a blank. If anyone has sourced it I would be delighted to know.

Hi. Yes I remember this too. We only ever had it at Xmas and it was delicious. I remember my Mum got it from the Co-Op and we also lived in SE London near Elrham. I can even remember one Xmas asking my Mum 'where's the raisen wine' only being told that that no longer sold it. I was so disappointed. That would have been around 1969. I think it was called raisen wine initially then changed to raisen cordial. I've never found anything like it since.
