I guess the claims woke the actual winner up.
A charge of fraud I should think
I would guess that a fraud charge could be forthcoming.

It doesn't take a genius to work out that a company that is dishing out millions of pounds in prizes is going to have its ticket checking procedures lined up, and they are going to be fool proof.

It would appear that the dubious individual who has been attracting publicity for a poor attempt at getting the money is indeed - a fool.

Interesting to see if Camelot will prosecute the attempted fraudster.
Camelot has no power to prosecute; the lottery operator may however refer the matter to West Mercia Constabulary Fraud Squad for investigation.
The Fraud Act (which came into force in January 2007) swept all of the old statutory deception offences away. Instead a new offence of fraud has been defined as follows:

The defendant must have been dishonest, and have intended to make a gain or to cause a loss to another.

In addition, the defendant must carry out one of these acts:

Making a false or misleading representation.

Failing to disclose to another person information which he is under a legal duty to disclose.

Abusing a position of trust.

The first of these 3 seems to be apposite.
going to court for something else.
Camelot said the fact that a ticket had been validated within 180 days of the draw meant it had not been submitted under its lost, stolen destroyed or damaged policy.
so she is.

Dave.
She has already got a conviction for trying to claim a £2000 scratch card win by forgery Some of them never learn!
What about the '100s' of other claims for the £33 million that Camalot have had? This could tie up the courts for some time.
Is this woman thick or what ?

She already has a track record of trying to defraud the Lottery, and what does she do....she tries it on again !

Mind Boggling if you ask me !

Perhaps they are not from 'claimants' in the UK
Bazile According to the newspapers most if not all are from the UK,the claims only started when Camelot announced the address of the shop where the ticket was bought. You can not buy tickets outside the UK as far as I know (On line possibly but not from a lottery shop)
You can't buy a lottery ticket online if you are outside of the U.K. Eddies1 The system picks it up. If I am away I buy in advance before I go.
Maybe they should name and shame all the other false claimants.
You can buy Euro tickets outside the Uk obviously but if you win you have to return to that country to claim. i have bought them occasionally - and always take a picture of the shop on my phone.
Eddie, this was on Sky news yesterday.

Camelot confirmed that the ticket wasn't necessarily bought at the shop that has been in the papers and the news, they just used it to highlight the missing ticket in worcester.

Maybe the shop keeper could be in a spot of trouble as he kept tellijng us how he remembered her buying THE ticket.

Dave.

how she ever thought that she would get away with it escapes me....now in hiding !
