Watched a programme on Zante last Tuesday and it sorta appealed to me
I haven't been abroad since 2008 -
What I would like is that I would enjoy the entertainment with the residents rather than the tourists.
2. As I suffer from a bit of agoraphobia - how long is the flight, and I know it depends where you are going - I only want one's journey to get to the hotel after I land.
Sorry if you don't know anything about Zante but I need to make the distance as short as possible. Thanks for any help you may give me.

If you're looking into booking a holiday on Zante and you come across references to 'Zakynthos' don't worry. They're the same place!
While, of course, you might want to seek out a package holiday (using charter flights), the only scheduled flights from Belfast to the island are with Jet2 (They fly from Belfast International, not George Best, and ONLY ON WEDNESDAYS, from 4th May until 5th October).
http:// www.jet 2.com/
Flights are scheduled to take 4h 10m outbound and just 5 minutes longer coming back. Sample fares (at current prices):
Out on 11th May and back on 18th May = £169.20 return.
Out on 10th Aug and back on 17th Aug = £227.70 return.
The island isn't that big (roughly 25 miles by 12 miles), so a bus journey to anywhere won't take very long. The bus company's website is here:
http:// ktel-za kynthos .gr/en/
There's only one official taxi company on the island. You can check fares and book here:
http:// www.zan tetaxi. gr/
(There are also some useful links at the top left of that page).
Wikitravel is, as always, well worth a read:

Anything else, Conne?

Jennyjoan, I spent a week on Zante, the most relaxing week I have ever spent, nobody rushes anywhere and never far from the mountains. I stayed in the town of Kalamaki. I would go there again any time. It made me laugh when I hired a motorbike, I noticed that it didn't have any number plates on it, when I enquired, they said don't worry about that, the Police wont bother you here, and they didn't! There is also virtually no serious crime on the island. I loved it there.
and this place is certainly worth a visit or two.... http:// cavebar .tripod .com/
Sorry I meant - getting the bus when you land - how far would it be to hotel.
Fuerteventura after leaving plane - journey seemed hours and hours (that I dont want)
thanks all for your contributions - hope I do go (the worry of the oul dog) I know my friend said she would mind him but I think it would be too much for her.

The journey to your hotel will depend on where your hotel is. If you don't want to use the bus provided by your tour operator you could book a taxi using the information provided previously. You would be wise to notify the tour operator that you intend using independent transport though, or find a tour operator that provides private transfers.
I have put a date in for June and this is what came up
