how can I limit spam on my web based email?
4 Answers
I set up a simple website about 2 years ago and put it in the hands of a web hosting company who provided me with a web based email for messages to/from my company. It worked great until recently when my web host told me they were moving servers to a 'bigger & better' one. My email changed to 'hordemail' as well. Problem is I am now getting hundreds of spam messages daily, usually each sender sends 5/6 identical messages. Its a pain, I put all the senders in the 'blacklist' facility but they keep coming back with new names! I delete proper messages by mistake, they are like one needle in a haystack of crap. My web host says he cant do anything about it and he too wishes he had stayed on the old server....Any ideas? Can anything be done?

A web host worth their salt should be able to. Ideally set up procmail or similar for routing your email, and some sort of spam filtering system like SpamAsassin or DSPAM.
If you have IMAP/POP access, then you should be able to access your email using a client like Thunderbird, that has good spam detection.
Otherwise, consider moving to a different host?

Spam email is so frustrating! It’s also time wasting because you have to go and delete each and every unwanted email if no other anti-spam method works. You’re possibly tired of seeing your email occupied by offers for medicinal products, promotional OFF or loans. So, How to stop getting spam emails?
Every day the spammers are getting smarter that makes this task tougher. Take the recent LinkedIn password breach that started a horrific spam campaign. People were getting emails that seemed to be from LinkedIn, requesting them to confirm their email address by clicking on a link. The URL actually led them to an illegal online pharmacy.
