My son went to pay for petrol with one of his bank cards and it was declined. He
knew he had enough money in his account, so went to his bank. They told him that £350 had been taken and took him £250 over his overdraft, by a transaction for Tesco online.
The bank said it could not treat it as fraud until the amount showed up on his statement??
I think maybe something has been lost in translation or the bank didn't explain properly. Maybe they meant wait until the transaction had cleared as it may be that Tesco would reject it. He will get the money back but it's a pain if he has to wait a bit.
