Mix a little hot water with vinegar and in another bowl hot water with baking soda into a paste, apply the vinegar and water solution to the area then use a vacuum or a rag to soak and clean up the affected area. Then cover the area with the baking soda and water mixture again use a vacuum or a rag to wipe off and clean the spot. Then use hot water to clean the area and allow it to dry normally.
Ventilation and time will get rid of it, little else.
Bicarbonate of soda will absorb most smells. It will help if you clean the area with hot water with Persil, or other wash powder first.
Spread area with cat litter
Spray it with Febreeze and leave the windows open ( if possible ).
let it evaporate, no other way.
Wash the carpet, smell goes fairly quickly anyway!
