I've just tried to log into my FB account, but it keeps asking me to give all sorts of ID information regarding my identity. Is this straight up, or is it a scam? I don't understand why they have to have all this ID stuff - does this mean that I am now going to have to use FB under my own/real name?
Before I commit my finger to the "send" button, can anyone out there please confirm that this stuff from FB really is from FB, please?

Hi folks, the thing that concerns me is having to give them some kind of ID before I can log back in ..... according to the page that comes up after I have clicked "log in", they want some kind of ID which authenticates the name that I use on facebook. Well, of course, the name I use on FB isn't my real name, so I won't have any kind of ID proving that name i use on FB. Which is why it makes me feel it's a scam and that I should not click on anything ....
this is what comes up when I try to log into FB right now ... And it says .... " we delete your ID information after verification is complete" ... well how do I know that they do?

a friend of mine had this happen to her. She was using an alias that didn’t look real. There has been a lot of discussion about this because so many people use a name that is not their own for good reasons....they are hiding from an abusive partner for instance. However FB are standing firm and if they question your ID they will require proof that it is your real ID and if you don’t produce it, they will close your facebook account. I am not saying that the communication you have had is deffo from facebook, but if its not, its a copy of the genuine process from what you are saying.
chokkie read the link sherrardk posted at 21.15 . But yes, unless you are one of the 'special' groups, such as abuse or stalking victims, you are going to have to use your real name on Facebook.
If you don't like it just stick to AB , you can call yourself anything here and no one can know who you really are , unless you want them to.
