Divorce Advice Please....
Noooooo, not for me.
Son 2 married in March 2010, they split up a year later, this March they will have been living apart for five years.
What is the procedure for a divorce under these circumstances please ?

When they only lived together for a year it is highly unlikely miantenance would be awarded:
"If the marriage or civil partnership is short (typically, less than five years), it may not be paid at all or only for a short period through what’s called a ‘term order’. But where a couple has been together for a long time, or where an ex-partner doesn’t have a job, it can be paid for life.
In legal language, it’s on a ‘joint lives’ basis, which means either until the person paying maintenance or the one receiving it dies. However, spousal maintenance on a joint lives basis is increasingly rare."

In most cases, where a couple without children divorce it is far better all round for a clean break settlement in my view. It is not healthy for one to be dependent on the other for their income.

^^ good points hc, but the principle is that it is no longer automatically assumed that the husband would be the breadwinner. In this case the ex wife has a full time job and the ex husband is disabled and unfit for work.
The wife may well have to provide some sort of financial support to the ex husband , that could be maintenance or a 'one off' settlement.
