I fully support the right of everyone to have an opinion, and the right to express it, but the notion that Mr Clooney, or indeed any other famous person, somehow has a bigger insight, or a better solution to bring to the table simply on the basis that he is a film star is a seriously shaky premise.
It tends to attract bafflement, ridicule, and accusations of megalomania in the media - all of which detract from the serious issues at the heart of the matter.
