I need to put down some kind of flooring for a farm workshop type building that is cleanable, cheap and may have some heat-saving properties. The current floor is concrete.

If anyone has any ideas on types of flooring and where i could go to get the flooring i would be very greatful. Cost is number one and general apperance is not a problem.

Thanks

The simplest and cheapest is floor paint on the existing concrete or on a screed.

Thanks Stanleyman for your answer. But will this give me a finish that will allow me to clean it.

Plus how much would you recommand to buy i.e Litre wise 5l , 10l.

Thanks

Yes, it seals the concrete, which is naturally porous. Obviously the smoothness of the finish will entirely depend on the roughness of the existing - i.e you may not be able to wash it with a cloth if its lumpy now - it will still be lumpy - but smart lumpy!

5 litres will cover about 20 square metres. International Paints make one product which B+Q stock.

I have used garage floor paint from diy shed :similar product. We buy horrid houses and renovate them. This was a good shortish stop on an old floor in a twenty by twenty foot kitchen. It kept the dust down and was washable( I had young kids) the surface was good to wipe over: but it was still cold so we put off cut carpet on underlay to stop the cold travelling to the core of your bones in the bits where we stood ie cooker, sink and kids play area.

Polished concrete surface is the best option. Concrete polished floor surface is more cost effective, maintenance costs are lower and more resistant to high foot traffic.I think this will helpful for you.For further details contact to Artech Stone Polishing Service. http://www.artechfloorpolishing.com.au/ Media URL: http://www.artechfloorpolishing.com.au/
